A Different Sort of Prayer

Fabulous Dad Frock & His first born son, My Beloved~ Michael

Sometimes, prayers are muttered
Whispered or uttered aloud.
Prayed passionately full of hope.
Though hard, you practice your faith that
All prayers are answered.

Sometimes, when the answer comes
Creeping or crashing into your life
You desperately hope you heard wrong.
That's not the miracle you expected!

Sometimes, prayers seem useless
Empty, unfair, unheard, wasted
And, that is the exact time when you must
Bow your head, open your hands and yield.

Sometimes, you find that all that is left,
Is to try a different prayer and
Plead for the grace to believe as you lament,
"Not my will but Yours be done."

Sometimes, it's the only prayer
Your anguished spirit can haltingly pray.
Because there is nothing else to try
Nothing more to say.

Sometimes like now.

Beautiful Holly...
I wish for you to receive comfort and understanding during this time. Whatever this time may be as I'm not totally clear as to what is happening for you right now and that's okay :)

Big love to you Holly...
I sense your sadness and miss your joy.

Holly, your line about bowing your head and yielding is so very true and--I think--the key to peace. Know that my prayers for all of you are ongoing.

This poem I understand all the way through myself, multiple times over. In all your frustration and anguish right now, you've still managed to put it up in the form of a gift, this poetry, heartfelt and honest. You know where I am, Holly. Use me up.

Dear Holly, know that all of your blog family are sending love & support.

"I am leaning on the heart of God.
I am resting there in silence.
All the turmoil that exhausts me
is brought to bear on this great love.

No resistance or complaint is heard as I lean upon God's welcome embrace.
There is gladness for my coming.
There is comfort for my pain.

I lean, and lean, and lean
upon this heart that hurts within me.
Strength lifts the weight of my distress.
Courage wraps around my fear.

No miracle of instant recovery.
No taking away of life's burdens.
Yet, there is solace for my soul
and refuge for my exiled tears.

It is enough for me to know
the heart of God is with me,
full of mercy and compassion,
tending to the wounds I bear."
-Joyce Rupp-

I could think of no better words to share with you and Michael ... arms wrapped around you ... deep breaths ... being as present as possible with Carroll and each other.
