Wishcasting Wednesday

So Wednesday has arrived and brings with it the newest wishing work. Today, the question of wishes is, What Step Do You Wish To Take?

How about the notion of wishing to stop taking mis-steps? I often think I stumble more than I walk. And, I certainly can relate to the sensation that I take one teensy weensy step forward and fall two steps back.

Then I think, oh hell, I have to take steps in all directions....my personal stuff...professional stuff...relationships....haus Frau stuff...gardening stuff...spiritual stuff.... Who can step through all this stuff?? No wonder I stumble so much. Or, get so overwhelmed that I stop moving at all. Simply sit in the road in the inertia of overwhelmedness. Is that even a word?

Have you ever tried to walk in all directions all at the same time? Yeah, how's that working for ya? For me? Not so good. Like the Scarecrow said when Dorothy met him on the road to Oz, "And sometimes they go both ways..." Think me sitting here typing to you with my arms crossed over the keyboard.

She sits pondering...pondering...pondering...

And, shedding my excess weight keeps coming up to the surface even though more real pressing issues should be my causes for the wishing. But, the weight keeps coming up. So...

I wish to take one step toward my goal of feeling better...I wish each day to take one step toward that goal. Be it, remembering to pick better choices at my meals, or perhaps it would be to make myself eat breakfast every day, or insist that I carve out ten minutes, at least, to exercise daily.

I realize that I fall victim of all my lofty notions and the Internal Critic, (think Malificent from Sleeping Beauty,) comes out, folds her sinuous arms and sneers, "This effort is tiny and a waste of time. If you're not going to do it right and follow the rules, then just don't do it at all." So I give up...because I'm just a Human and I can't do it all right all the time. I end up doing nothing rather than not do it right.

Maybe I need to take a step to shut up that blister-on-my-butt and tape her mouth closed for a bit. Yeah, I know that 30 minutes a day is what is needed for exercise results, but I won't do that. And, that won't step me in the right direction. So, maybe 10 is a good step for me and this body of mine? Step to put the Internal Critic on notice, as the Good Witch chased the Bad Witch, "Be gone, be gone you have no power here!"

I wish to learn to love the small attempts, clap for the small steps, as much as I hope for the big successes. Because, lets face it- big successes don't come that often, but I step and mis-step about all day long.

Namaste' Till Next Time,
Holly aka Wishing Woman

Simon and I want to remind you that it's all about baby steps! We wish you a day of small successes! Just like Simon, I bet you'll see them grow bigger.

Yay you for stepping up to the small steps! I'm looking forward to seeing where they take you.

As Holly wishes for herself so do I wish. Oh and Holly, I firmly believe that taking small steps and mis-steps is better than taking no steps at all. And I do take lots of mis-steps believe me. If you can't silence your Inner Critic, try and ignore it. Jamie had a very good thing called Teh Vault in her The Next Chapter book blog. It was a place to dump all negative thoughts so that they wouldn't hamper you. Maybe having a mental vault would work for you?

As Holly wishes for herself, so I also wish - one baby step at a time towards feeling terrific!

To paraphrase Sarah in Labyrinth:

"Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here ... For my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom as great - You have no power over me."

I like that - "you have no power over me."

I agree with Eileen and Simon, baby steps first then you will be ready for those giant steps. As for the weight loss, I'm walking more than ever, I park further away from my office, I walk Suki Suki around the block often, can't walk Rusty or should I say, Rusty walks me around the block rather roughly... and, of course, I walk Carley around the block every chance I get....walking is the best way to shed the excess weight. Perhaps Fiona and Rory would like a walk.

My wish for you is: May you live
as long as you wish and love as long as you live.

As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also (and/or even something greater!)

If you haven't already stumbled across SARK's micromovements idea, that one helps me a great deal! All the tiny little stumbles count and add up :)

Miracles!

Mother Teresa said we can only do small things with great love. I love that quote.

And all these 'misteps' here and there? Sounds like maybe a beautiful dance.

I have an additional wish for you ... that you treat yourself with great tenderness.

This reminds of something I heard recently. Good enough actually is good enough. If you wait until you can do it perfectly, it may never happen. Doing what you can, with intention, is always better than doing nothing at all.

"The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps – we must step up the stairs."

– Vance Havner

I don't know about you, but for me the starin' is much easier than the steppin'! I am a terrific planner and a not-so-good implementator.

I have to tell you though, that when I do the work, (as distasteful as that sometimes is)I am ALWAYS rewarded with good results.

My wish for you is for a successful venture :-)

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Keep stepping, honey. Bright Blessings.

Every step, however small is a HUGE success and over time all those small steps turn into one BIG step to taking care of you!~

Some may wish you happiness, some may wish you wealth, all I wish for you is what you wish yourself. ....I have been struggling too...my doctor says start small, 2 minutes, then 3, then 4.....I have the tendancy to over do it....I just have to do.All the best.

Sometimes, we have to take baby steps before we can run. Any step toward health and feeling better is a good one. Also, since 10 minutes of exercise is your goal, there's a whole series of DVDs out called "10 Minute Solutions". I have the Latin Dance DVD out of that series and it's a lot of fun and great for when you're rushed. (I bought mine at Wal-Mart, but I'm sure that's not the only place that has them.)

Taking those baby steps is key. Something is better than nothing and if you can find a way to make it fun, all the better! Do you like to dance? Pop on some tunes and shake that thang, girl! ;) It never seems like work. :)

Hugs!

Yeah, um, like most writers i see you think a lot. Me too.

And like most smart women you analyze alot. Me too.

Neither which is getting you any closer to physical health.

So sign up for wieght watchers online and hand yourself over.

Once I stopped fighting and giving flight to my deep thoughts that lead to deep inaction, the pounds came off. I didn't even exercise.

ok

take care
