Wishcasting Wednesday

"What treat do you wish for?" Oh, it is that time soon, isn't it?! A treat for me instead of the tricks that so often hide in a day....or a dream.

A treat...something that is fun and exciting. Or quiet and kind. A treat...treat...treat! Hmm, let me think. I've got it!

I wish that every child has the sort of safe, fun Halloween trick or treats we had the luxury of having when I was a child.

When the world was a little less scary and things were a little more kind. When things that went bump in the night were only the things of story or horror film. When children could go racing door to door, for blocks and blocks on their own. In groups merry with anticipation and squeals of delight. Without the worry of having to be guarded against harm or hurt.

I wish for the treat of a fun All Hallows Eve when I can sit out on the porch with my besom and pointy hat and fill the bags and waiting hearts with chocolate treats. With the jack-o-lanterns blazing orange in the yard. I want the treat of talking with all the wee ghosties and goblins who come a-begging.

Yeah, that's most certainly the treat I wish for....

I'm with you Holly! A good ol' fashioned Halloween, that's what we need!

As Holly wishes for herself, so do I also wish for her, with all my heart!

I wish everyone would leave out those "just take one" bowls for Halloween, but I will defer to Holly and as Holly wishes, so I wish for her.

It's sad the way adults have ruined Halloween for children.

That is a perfect wish Holly. It would be so nice to step back to a time where kids couple play in their front yards and ride their bikes to the dime store and trick or treat with a gaggle of neighborhood kids! I wish for that too.

This post brought back some wonderful memories of my youth. Thanks.

Living in a small town, we don't have to worry as much as in the city, & the kids still go door to door...."in town" as a lot of us are rural, which annoys some of the people who live "in town" as they provide for all the kids for miles around. Anyways, what I wanted to say was..you always have such nice images with your posts, different from anyone else's. Where do you get them from??

Awwwwww...made me recall wading knee deep through rustling colored leaves through the neighborhood with my brothers and sister and all our pals. :) It's MAGIC!

As Holly wishes for her self (and all the precious children) so I also wish for her.

I miss Halloween the way it used to be - now I'm more afraid of the "kids" who come around demanding the kinds of treats they prefer and leaving vandalism in their wake if they don't get "enough" of what they would rather have!

As Holly wishes for herself, so I gleefully wish for her also!

In fact, I wish I could hang out with you on Halloween night with my own besom and pointy hat. We'd make a cute couple of witches, you and me.

Maybe I'll just hop on my broomstick and do it....

Nothing like a good ole fashioned Halloween. Our city had it on Sunday. Now why would they do that when Halloween is on Saturday? I'm so confused. They also have it in the afternoon. I miss those evenings where we were excited and spooked all in one.

As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her too.

Ahh, the good ole days. We would go out for hours dressed up in our costumes. Kids and parents alike had no worries that you'd come back home safely. And the parents didn't have to tag along for safety.

Ahh, the good ole days.

Sounds delightful Holly, but a little scary too "sitting on your porch wearing a pointy hat"... that makes me laugh.
Halloween is a wild and wonderful time for you guys, young and old, isn't it?

Wishing you lots of safe fun.

I *LOVE* your wish! And, if all could behave in such a way as to make this kind of Halloween possible, imagine what it would be like if they kept it up the rest of the year!

As Holly wishes for herself and the children of the world, so I wish for her and the children of the world also! :)

Wouldn't that be nice? An old fashioned Halloween? We used to give out cider and donut holes!!! I would run screaming from a house that pulled that now....:p) But ours were the treat of the neighborhood.

Sorry I've been absent so much. Miss trading ideas with you and everyone!

Yes Holly.....we're going to make Mars Bars Rice Crispy Treats and wrap them with our names and address on them. The munchkins deserve what we remember of the best parts of Halloween.

Oh Ms. Wonderful Holly

I left Oz for a brief moment to get my hug! What a wonderful vision. As Holly wishes for herself (and all the kids, oh the wonderful kids)
I wish for you and THEM also.

Too often we forget about the kids and pass on too much crap and reality.

Trick or Treat! May we trick the time clock for one evening and TREAT ourselves to good ol' fun!

oh, thank you for the elegant description of the Halloweens of my childhood ... how i long for those days as I suit up my little goblin, knowing i will be standing nearby her because, well, you know.

My wish is to have someone like you on our block!

As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her.

glad we found each other :)
