Wishcasting Wednesday
I wish I may, I wish I might...
Another wish in the making and this week Jamie asks, "What do you wish to nurture?"
Easy wish for me today. I wish to nurture my mothering instincts. What I hope are instincts. So late in my life, I desire to activate them because of two wonderful children who are now part of my life, thanks to my marriage.
Two fabulous, adult children whose adventures you have read about at various times here. Melissa and Evan are great individuals on the road to discovering their lives and their hopes and aspirations.
Stumbling at times, just as we all do. But, getting up, dusting themselves off, and walking forward. They make me proud to be part of the journey with them.
Here's the thing...I never thought I would have children. And, so I suppose I never worried if I had what it takes to be a mother. But, now all these years later, here I am, and I guess I'm worried that I'm not good enough. Or, up to the challenge. Or even wanted by them in this role.
So, I suppose I want to nurture the instincts to love and support and protect and guide. And do that without interfering. Without judging. Without royally screwing up.
Evan will be home in a couple of days for a 10 day leave. I'll be so excited to have him here with us even for so brief a time. I want to pamper and love him; send him on his way to his first duty assignment with more memories of home.
For Melissa? I wish for her to learn to walk in the truth and the courage to come to terms with all the potential she possesses to have a wonderful life. And to that I'll add, hope that she develops the willingness to reach for authentic, peaceful, and happy. I wish for her, understanding that she can have the best of it all when she knows how valuable and worthy she is.
I wish to nurture them if they want that from me. And nurture my instincts to discern how best to assist them as they journey. I know we'll all be better for the shared experiences if we encounter them with love and friendship and the goal of building our definition of family.
P.S. As part of my wish last week to savor the tastes of summer, I'm happy to report that while I was in Baltimore I had a snow ball! So, yes, there's most def something to this combined wishing we're doing. It tasted wonderful and I wanted to thank you all!
Namaste' Till Next Time,
Holly aka Wicca'd Step Mother

As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her also. :)
Holly, it would seem to me, from just 'getting to know you' via your blog, that you would make a pretty amazing stepmother! Melissa and Evan are very lucky. As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also.
Great wishes Holly! As Holly wishes for herself...I wish for her also!
The words "Mother Earth" come to me--neutral and accepting of all.
I wish for Holly as she wishes for herself.
As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her also.
Though you only have to be yourself, give yourself, and at time put yourself aside to listen...which you do very well.
those children are blessed, maybe more than they will ever know, to have you in their lives !
As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her also.
Motherhood comes with ups and downs, it is never easy to do and very stressful at time. But oh the joys! There are joys lots of joys! When you see that smile when you tell them something and you see they got it! They really got it! You see something they did that you influenced! Keep it up...Nurturing kids is great! Even when they are adults!
Melissa and Evan are two very fortunate souls to have you willing to be their Mother -- in all the manifestations that takes....
And hey, don't forget about your *other* kids!! ;)
As Holly wishes for herself, so then do I, with Love and Intent, wish for her also....
A worthy wish for this Wednesday, and I wish for you also.
As Holly wishes for herself,so I also wish for her.
I don't think that you'll find many birth mothers who don't have the same worries... even once the chicks are out of the nest Mom's worry. as one of my adopted chicks just told me "There's no manual so you just have to do your best."
It seems to me your wish has already come true, Holly!
In my short "acquaintance" with you through blogging I have come to know you as a nurturing, caring, and truly giving individual. A mother of mothers. :)
But as you wish, so will I.
As Holly wishes for herself and the young people she nurtures, so I wish for them also! :)
Holly,
I love the look of your blog - it's so classy!

Wonderful wishes! You made me realize that I should have included my step children in my post today. I really wish to nurture a relationship with them. They are in their 20's and so busy. Still, they mean a lot to me.
As Holly wishes for herself, I wish for her also.
As Holly wishes for herself, so too do I wish for her ...although it seems as though you already have your wish ;-)
Hi Holly,
I have used your flower photo as a prompt today. Please excuse me for using the image without asking you.I did it on the spur and wanted it to be a surprise to you.You can see it here

They are blessed that you are you but also that you care enough to consider your role!! I think we all, step or otherwise worry that we can step up and be decent parents!! Truly..if they know you care you've won the battle. Hugs, Sarah

You share with us your nurturing, loving side every week here at Wishcasting and for that I am truly grateful. May a beautiful bond grow between you and the children that are now in your life.
As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her also.
Holly ... you all may have come into this relationship "late in life" but the relationship has had it's own "infancy" and perhaps you'd say now you're onto the "toddler" years, or maybe you've already reached "pre-teen" ... give yourself the latitude to work through all of these stages and I know for certain each one of you (Michael included) is benefiting greatly through this love dance! May all of your wishes come true!
As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her also :D
As Holly wishes for herself, I also wish for her. I have to be brief, darling queen -- only a day and a half left here in this work week and it's been Friday all week ... I love you!
As Holly wishes for herself, so I wish for her also.

I always just assumed you were a mom - you have a nurturing, earthy feel to you. I think your wish is already true, but may it deepen even more and more ...
As Holly wishes for herself, so I lovingly wish for her also. Mothering instincts guide us through the good and hard times. I think Evan and Melissa are very lucky to have you, as you are to have them. xx

just keep sharing with them your Beautiful spirit

AS you wish, I wish for you also! I don't think you will have a hard time having this wish come true after reading your blog and words of understanding and encouragement. It really is all that we can give to our children and let them find their way, making learning mistakes along the path. Here's to a rewarding 10 days to come!!
What a beautiful wish. And what a beautifully written post. Your step-kids (although I don't like the term "step") are lucky to have such a generous person in their life :-) I wish all those things for you and for them. xo
As Holly wishes for her amazing self I so wish for her as well.
Thank you for your email, re the moon. I had no idea anyone else was thinking and feeling the way I was. Blogging is definitely a way of connecting to kindred spirits.
This is a beautiful wish - I wish for you also. I have been in your shoes (sort of - I have 3 children of my own. Hubby has 2). It was when I moved in with Hubby and his 2 adult sons that I wanted to be a great stepmom. My own children were on their own.
One thing I will never do again, is to try and compete with their mom. I thought I was better (thanks ego!), so tried to win their approval. Then I found out they were just humouring me, just being polite, hiding their true feelings. A good lesson for me. I don't think I'd like it very much if someone tried to come between me and my children. So I should have known better. Now I do!
just the fact that you WANT to be a mother to them is already so much more than many children, young or older, have.
Holly, that which you wish for, I wish for you also.
