Happy Birthday Holly!
Here's a little present...

Cancer
Ruling Planet: The Moon
Element: Water
Quality: Cardinal
Symbol: The Crab
Polarity: Feminine
Physical Correspondence: The stomach and breasts
Stones: Pearl, moonstone, peridot
Flowers: lily, lily of the valley, water lily, white rose
Colors: cream, white, silver-blue, smoky gray

Positive Traits: Kind, sensitive, sympathetic; a powerful imagination; a strong maternal or paternal instinct; solicitous and protective; cautious, patriotic; tenacious, shrewd, thrifty; emotionally resourceful; an excellent home-maker.

Essential Oils:German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita or Matricaria chamomilla) is the signature oil for Cancer.

According to Patricia Davis in Astrological Aromatherapy:
Everything about Blue Chamomile finds an echo in the character of Cancer. It is above all the 'Mothering' oil: calming and soothing, gentle enough to be used for even the youngest infants and appropriate for so many of the troubles of early childhood. All the chamomiles are similar in their action but Blue Chamomile is the one most appropriate to Cancer because its colour evokes the Water element and the ocean that is the Crab's natural home.

As we have seen Cancer is associated with the breasts and stomach. Chamomile is often used as a digestive calming oil (stomach) and is also a great nurturing oil (breasts).

Happy Birthday dear Holly!

Happy birthday!

i really like that drawing you have up today. i have a thing for hands. going to do a post on it some day. and i have not yet read any Thomas Merton, but the name keeps popping up. in fact, i was going through some notes in a little notebook i carry with me all the time. one of my lists is of books/authors i need to check out. his name is on that list too, and i don't even know when i added it.

have a wonder-full day! xoxoxo

Now that is a great quote! But considering your penchant for change and self improvement, I can see you turning this one on its head. :)

Late at night, Holly, but not TOO late to check back - how was your birthday! I thought of you today and was reminded of the John and Yoko song - the birthday song....so make a wish, and let it come true for you!!!

Happiest of Happy Birthdays, Your Most Excellent Queenness! We are both water signs, I see. No wonder I felt an instant 'click' when I first discovered your blog! (I'm an Aquarian.)

I actually have a Birthday pressie for you, too! Remember the 'what title, please?' post on my blog? Well, my friend and editor Charlotte (she is with Virago, not actually my very own), after a bit of deliberation decided that your brilliant 'On Track With The Devil' is the title that reached the finish line first!

So, when you have a moment, please choose which book you'd like from the list of my favourites - in the post entitled 'Seduction' and when you have, let me know which one it is and your snail mail address and I'll have it sent pronto! My email addy is on my profile. Congratulations....and a huge thank you from me.
