...can you find an offer this appealing. This unique. And, it's not like I was on a far stretch to nowhere when I came across this sign. Which, to me, says a lot about life in Western PA. No Deliverance scenes; banjos plunking away by Albino children. No rusted wrecks. It was simply tacked on a tree, near a stream, at the side of a paved road.
On the other hand, where I live also affords me this view from my deck most mornings. Click on this one to get its real impact. I'm telling you, sometimes it makes me scratch my head when I ponder it.
From the ridiculous to the sublime all in the course of one day- sometimes in the course of 10 minutes. Not that we have a corner on that market. All you have to do is listen to what other bloggers say about where they live and what they see. But still...
Michael said I should have whited out the telephone number. I figure I'm doing the owner a community service. Since, no one yet wants to actually hire me for my marketing talents, well, someone should get the benefit of them.
Come on, you know you want to live here...really, haven't you always wanted a coal mine of your very own?! Such a unique venue to call, "Home." Best offer, come on...and you wouldn't be that far from me. We'd be Highland neighbors. Just over the ridge from each other. I'd love that.

We have signs like that around here, but they usually read, "10 acres, free pig." No kidding!
That is a funny sign for sure, I remember reading in the paper in the personals, Looking for wife with tractor, please send picture of tractor. My Dad and I laughed our butts off. He thought that was just hilarious. Of course he was a farmer. I have to laugh at Dianes comment too. Free pig! lol
That view is gorgeous. :)
I love the sign! As we have a cabin in central PA (near State College) I often encounter funny signs and they always make me glad to have a place in the mountains. I do believe the funniest one I ever saw read 'CAUTION...Cow out!' Guess she got away from her fenced in pasture lol.
Yes, I'd love to be your neighbor! I imagine all the wonderful mornings of meeting up for coffee ;))
sorry I had to laugh....
my hubby always reads my blogs...usually right away and sends me a note alerting me to typos...
so I figured I had to do my civic duty this morning and do the same for you....
"coal mind".....near the end of your post....
although....believe me....there are mornings I wake up and I could completely describe my mind and my thoughts as "coal"
Thanks for the pick-up Beth. Now, folks, that's a friend! Corrected.
LOL - don't tell Jim...how much do they want??? Highland neighbors..hmmmm I can see us having coffee and looking at that view with Lucy Lu and your sweet pooches playin' down in the yard. Hmmmmmm....
This area in Idaho has similar signs - lol..like..."If the first shot missed the second won't - no trespassing!!!" Giggle....hmmm PA huh??
Hugs to you hon, Sarah
Coal mine, huh ... not into the idea of going down down down into shadows ... don't even like basements in parking garages -- I always go UP! But the land? yep. Your view is how our sunsets have been looking lately -- tired aqua looped thru brilliant pink-almost-orange ... but the trees are fuller, still, here.
oh! hire, instead of higher? altho' with that view, I wondered if you did that on purpose.
It is tempting, just so I could come over and sit on your deck every once in a while. :) Funny sign.
No, Toni, that's another brain fart of mine. Hire is correct, and corrected~
I'm telling you readers, I love friends who show me where I've gone astray! Always do that for me, K?
Tempting, Mizz Holly - but unless they will settle for a story, a song, and a smile, I'm out.
Shade and Sweetwater,
K
Looks like a good location...not sure what I would do with the coal mine though.
Looks like something that would sprout up overnight here......or be planted for decades while the owner & the property are long gone. If we had coal mines that is.
The funniest sign I ever saw, when I didn't have a camera of course, cause it was a winner...was in a fast food parking lot that had been utterly flooded by spring thaws, a plastic yellow sign saying "caution...wet floor"
Love the view but will have to pass on the coal mine for many reasons.
To wake to those sunrises would be divine! To wake to the coal dust settled on everything would be a nightmare! To have coffee with you any time we'd want would be a dream come true!
Really not sure about the coal mine but at least you would be able to keep yourself warm in the winter pretty cheaply!
What a hoot! I love that the coal mine is a "plus" like it's an huge bonus. I can hear it now-- Hey kids, let's go play in my coal mine :-)
Thanks for the chuckle! xo
I'd have to say no thanks on the coal mine, but your view is breathtaking! I'd never want to leave!!
I'm doubled over with laughter, Holly, because my post today ALSO includes a real estate sign with telephone number (two, signs to be perfectly accurate). How funny is that? In a weird, separated at birth, tandem, parallel universe kind of way.
actually a coal mine could be fun.. I love those kind of signs..and I agree, there are so many, many places in the world that are beautiful .. and we are blessed to be able to see them by visiting blogs.. you and your gorgeous views, me with my rugged mountain ranges & australian bush.. all glorious in their own right. thanks for showing us!
Hey a job with a view! Instead of chopping wood for the winter, just grab a respirator and down you go, before you know it, enough coal for a warm cosy winter. I love the mountains. They truly are a magical place, such beauty in the sunsets....and with a cup of coffee in hand, the sunrises as well. Love the sign! Love and Light, Nina P.
True - ridiculous to sublime then back in flash!
You are so fortunate - I have to drive an hour north to encounter such real estate bargains. I've been looking for a place to park my mine cart for ages....
