The Color Purple

Yes, I get teased about it. I'm all right with that; I know what I know. Have known it since I was a tiny, wee girl. It's difficult for me to imagine any other color worth holding so very high in esteem. Well, maybe red comes close. But, for most things in my world, I am all about the Royal Purple.

Queen of The Universe purple. And, these citizens of my garden prove the fantabulousness of it all. "Look at me! See me! Am I not worthy of your eyes and admiration? Look at me!" I will tell you that, I did not plant this Iris; she is a volunteer hiding within a white flowering plant that I brought home. But who are we to question these things? Indeed, We are most pleased. Look at her, isn't she stunning? She, wearing her rain-drop jewels.

Purple, "is associated with mystery, nobility, wealth, creativity, dichotomy, and intrigue." I know I am certainly intrigued by it... It is the color associated with the Crown Chakra- the seat of the Divine in you. When you wish to hear Source speak, sit quietly, breathing in & out slowly, and in your mind, picture Purple...

Purple: a dynamic and "paradoxical combination of hot red and soothing blue. (Hmm, sounds like me. A good description, as sometimes I'm that all in the same moment!) Those who are beguiled by it are typically dramatic, spiritual, intuitive, inspirational in beauty and art, protective, and very creative." We expect the very best. We are able to surprise and enthrall you. While I'm not certain about the 'enthrall' part, I do aim to give you pleasant surprises from time to time.

In nature, the varied shades of purple hold a sacred place...the dye made from purple flowers made Cleopatra smile...it was her favorite shade. She supposedly wore it often. Again, who are we to question this? And if it was good enough for The Queen of The Nile, it's good enough for This Queen...and you. So say All of Us.

It is the primary color in my world...reflected in my garden and home...part of my meditation and Reiki practice. An important marker in my Self definition. A vital piece to how you see me. A point of fascination and fun. A conversation starter. A laugh maker. And, yet, I am beginning to sense, that just possibly, with some pondering, I may need to consider that...

Other exquisite opportunities await. There's always time to open up. To learn to love and value something new and completely different from what I know. To expand. To grow.

Namaste' Till Next Time,
Holly aka The Queen of The Universe

N.B. The purple factoids in quotes come from various Internet sources; unable to determine the authors, I simply send out my cosmic thanks.

with your love of purple, I'm going to give you a blog to go to that is very sad...this family just lost their little girl and it has torn so many of us apart...BUT, maddie loved purple and the request for her funeral and memorial was for everyone to wear purple..her favorite color !!

and with you and your ability to write such amazing words with such kindness, I'm sure that you will be able to send this family something wonderful with your voice !!

Beautiful photos of your garden. Can you come over here with some seeds and a hoe?!

I love what you said about purple. I always hated purple, and about 3 months ago, all of a sudden I craved it. So interesting how we crave what our bodies and souls need at a particular time.

Hi Holly,

I too have always loved purple! It's a wonderful color.

Wearing it today, even my nail polish is a deep purple. A girl's gotta do, what a girl's gotta do.

Great photos. Your garden is much further along than mine at 7,500 feet in elevation...my purple flowers will start showing up soon. In the meantime, I am lovin' the looks of your purple ones!

Oh, do we have any pictures to share of you and your purple-hued hair from years ago? Your persuasive powers when it comes to your favorite color were certainly evident when the new conference center at FSHC was unveiled and you had talked the powers-at-be into purple carpeting!!! Smashing! I don't know if the place is still so stylish but you lovingly left your mark!

A - the color suits you, and for all the reasons you say but also just my 'sense' of you.
B - do you have a macro setting? my flower pictures from this close are blurry ... still beguiling but blurry. These are sharp and SO gorgeous.
C - where did you get the info on the color, it's meanings and associations and Chakra alignment? I wanna know all that about MY favorite color (apple green) ...
D - you are now the SECOND blog I read every morning (after V-Luv's) ... I couldn't stand waiting to go ALL the way down my list to get to you!
