I'm old enough to remember when people actually dressed up to get on an airplane like it was a social event. I mean, high heels, dresses, suits, ties; the whole nine yards. Now we have people showing up at airports looking, at best, like they're going to a slumber party. At worst, many patrons resemble homeless people. Richard M. Nixon was president when I was a senior in high school and resigned when I was a freshman in college. He is the only president who has resigned. It made for a very interesting era.

While it doesn't happen very often, for which I am grateful, there are times when My Lion and I can get heated with each other. We have our disagreements that escalate into snarls, but generally we see eye to eye and live very companionably.

My day started out just fine. On Sunday, we all seem to do as we like at the pace we want to move. No real demands, no phones to answer. And in my world, I thought I'd take the quiet time to do some laundry. It was all going pretty well.

When I was teaching Public Relations Writing at Towson Univesity, I told my students to let their writing sit for at least 24 hours before editing. Our brains cannot simultaneously create and correct. So, time is needed for our brains to actually 'see' what's on the page and then the necessary edits and corrections are so much easier to spot. Why? Because the brain resets and sees it as it is,Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10972581158834240144noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-348829223107301446.post-32094985584389201242017-03-08T10:39:00.004-05:002017-03-08T10:39:52.477-05:00Women's Day International

The father of the Arts & Crafts Movement, William Morris, had a golden rule about living in and decorating a home:"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful." Soaring high above the District of Columbia, at the very top of the Capital Building, the Statue of Freedom has watched since 1863. She stands on what is called, the Tholus. During the day, one would not notice a change...

It seems to me that if we have a wee bit of courage and an open mind and heart...
...if we develop enough fortitude to spend time with ourSelf; get comfortable with ourSelf; really take the time to examine what makes one singularly special and necessary; truly get to know who you are...

The Tiny House movement that is huge right now fascinates me! I suppose it is a push back against the trend of McMansions that swept the nation in the 90s. And for Millennials, who aren't big on possessions preferring experiences instead, a tiny house is a way to live mortgage free so money can be used for other things.
I have always preferred small spaces. Creatively designed. Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10972581158834240144noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-348829223107301446.post-78698038842466631712017-02-27T13:30:00.000-05:002017-02-28T08:35:40.977-05:00Here We Go Again, Sadly!
Way back in 2009, I wrote a rant entitled A Fox In The White House, which you can read if you click the link. It covered the, then, Obama administration attempting to shut Fox News out of a series of important press interviews. It didn't happen, thanks to the massive push back by other press outlets as well as the public when they caught wind of it.

Right from the top, I'm telling you that these are simply my thoughts. I truly don't know enough about this lifestyle issue to share facts. But, writing about it is the way to get my thoughts out on the topic of the president recently rolling back federal regulation, and turning it back to the states, the battle over which bathroom a citizen should use or be mandated to use.

This song continues to be my all-time favorite. Can any of us really say why a song stands out so importantly? Probably because of the time and place one first heard it. Maybe it reminds us of a friend or lover and the poignant remembering of them.

When life seems to be running at a hectic pace that leaves us breathless we say, "I'm spinning in place," or "I feel like a spinning top!" "Like a Whirling Dervish..." generally indicates that we're going as fast as we can, attempting to keep up, and feeling exhausted for our efforts.
It can be so defeating, this feeling as if your best effort to stay in control is not enough. &Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10972581158834240144noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-348829223107301446.post-25205530361043506752017-02-20T11:46:00.000-05:002017-02-20T14:11:31.663-05:00Thyroid Trials
